Two Cedartown men remain in jail after being arrested in separate shootings in Rome and Cedartown. The men have something else in common.
They are brothers.
Laryan Yance Walker, 22, of 319 South Estes St., Cedartown, was charged with felony aggravated assault after he reportedly pulled out a .22-caliber handgun and shot a 19-year-old Rome man at 3:20 a.m. on Cave Spring Road Sunday morning, according to Floyd County Jail reports.
The victim, Dejarvis Willie Smith, was listed in satisfactory condition by Floyd Medical Center officials Sunday night.
Walker remains in jail without bail on the felony charge, pending his first court appearance.
Walker’s arrest follows the Cedartown arrest of his older brother, Lajuan, 28, last week in a late-night shooting at the Pace and Park Streets intersection Oct. 8. The older Walker also lives at the South Estes Street address, according to police officials.
Lajuan Walker is charged with aggravated assault, Newsome said. He said an investigation is ongoing and could result in other arrests. He remains in the Polk County Jail.
The injured man in that shooting has been identified as Weston Price, 33, of Thompson St., Cedartown. Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome said he had been shot twice around 10:45 p.m. at 420 Pace St.
Price has since been treated and released from Floyd Medical Center (FMC), according to hospital officials.
Police said the Cedartown incident started as a fistfight.
Investigators are continuing in both cases.
