The River City Propane truck driver killed when his truck overturned on Ga. Hwy. 100 Thursday has been identified as Robert Alan Jordan, 22, of Tallapoosa Ga., according to Polk County Coroner Trey Litesey.

Jordan was dead when emergency crews arrived at the crash site two miles south of Cedartown and about 300 feet off of Ga. Highway 27 South.

No other injuries or vehicles were involved, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), which worked the case.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. and crushed the cab of the truck belonging to the propane company located in Piedmont, Ala., and Tallapoosa, Ga.

GSP officials said the driver was traveling north on Ga. Hwy. 100 when the truck ran off the road and overturned. Officials haven’t determined why the truck initially ran off the road.

Emergency personnel assisting in the crash’s aftermath included the Cedartown and Polk County Police Departments, the Cedartown Fire Department, and emergency personnel.

Officers kept Ga. Hwy. 100 closed throughout the early evening for the investigation and cleanup.

State Department of Transportation employees put up barricades blocking access to Ga. Hwy. 100 from Ga. Hwy. 27 and side roads.
