According to District Attorney Robert Brooks, Superior Court Judge Richard Sutton denied the defendant’s motion for bond after a brief hearing.
The boy is currently being held in a youth detention facility, but Brooks said he would be tried as an adult.
Brooks said the teen’s name is not being released because he will not be formally charged as an adult until he is indicted by the Polk County Grand Jury.
“It would be inappropriate to disclose the 15-year-old’s name at this point,” Brooks said.
“However, it is our intention to seek an indictment by the grand jury charging him in Superior Court. We have no comment at this point on the specific charges that will be presented to the grand jury.”
The other suspect in the case Cadreda Cook, 18, of 229 Thompson St., Cedartown, is scheduled to go before a Superior Court judge for her bond hearing July 3, according to the district attorney.
In other court business, Dr. Gerald Palatini, a Cedartown dentist, is scheduled for his arraignment Tuesday June 26.
Palatini, 55, of 87 Club View Drive, Cedartown, was arrested in April 2009 and charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor stemming from child pornography allegations.
Palatini was released on a property bond shortly after his arrest in a sting targeting child predators. He has been out on bond ever since his arrest.
His trial was delayed in order for attorneys to satisfy issues regarding evidence.
Palatini was also arrested in Floyd County last April on a felony count of false statements and writings in matters within jurisdiction of state, according to a Floyd County Jail report.
According to the report:
Palatini was charged after he completed a U.S. Department of Justice firearms transaction record and answered “no” to a question of whether or not he was under indictment for a felony, intentionally concealing that fact. Palatini was released from jail April 28, on a $2,700 bond.
