The former Rockmart standout tweeted on Friday that he was cut in a move that was not a surprise after the team took halfback David Wilson in the first round. Helping push the six-year veteran off the roster was the development of running back Da'Rel Scott and Andre Brown.
In leaving, Ware thanked the fans.
"ur well wishes r overwhelming will miss u all an my team Im not done I will b playing in NFL going BIG! just not here," Ware tweeted.
Ware, who had one carry for six yards and one catch for eight yards against New England in last year's Super Bowl, was the backup to Ahmad Bradshaw headed into training camp. But Wilson beat him out.
Ware, a former of University of Georgia running back, was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend. Ware chose Tampa Bay despite having several offers on the table. He will begin his career with the Buccaneers as a third-down running back.
