A Rockmart woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash at the interchange of Rockmart Highway and U.S. 411 late Wednesday afternoon.

According to Ryan Hutchins of the Rome Police Department:

A Chevrolet pickup, driven by Michael Davis of Rome, was traveling south on Rockmart Highway, just over the bridge at the interchange with U.S. 411.

A Ford Focus, driven by Jack Simpkins of Rockmart, was also on Rockmart Highway and apparently rear-ended Davis’s truck.

The passenger in the Ford, Sue Alma Simpkins, was injured in the crash and taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.

Hutchins said Jack Simpkins would be cited for following too closely.

The wreck happened around 5:20 p.m., and traffic on Dean Street heading south toward Rockmart was backed up to the East 12th Street bridge for about 45 minutes.

The scene was cleared shortly after 6 p.m.
