Redmond EMS visited every Polk County Elementary, Middle and High school today to drop off school supplies for the students and teachers who return to school tomorrow.

EMS personnel Kristi Womack, and Clay Barnett and shift captains Vann Smith and Marty Robinson arrived in ambulances to deliver crayons, paper, pens, pencils, and notebooks.

“Redmond is reaching out to these schools because it’s important to give back to our community,” said Marty Robinson. “In these tough times, so many teachers have to go out and by this stuff with their own money. We’re just giving back.”

At Northside Elementary in Cedartown, Redmond personnel delivered the supplies to the front office, much to the delight and surprise of the school’s staff. Teachers passing in the hall suggested that they could definitely find a use for the dozens of boxes of crayons, pencils and notebooks.

Robinson said that Redmond hopes to make these donations an annual event.

“This is our future. We just want to do what we can.”
