A burglary was reported on Anderson Road in Rockmart on Tuesday, according to police reports.
Polk County Police Department (PCPD) reports said a woman resident of the road came home around 4:15 p.m. to find her dogs outside the home when they are always left inside.
Once inside the home, she noticed a drawer opened and several boxes, drawers and other items opened and searched through, reports said.
She told police she found the back door unlocked when it is always locked.
The woman isn’t sure what all was taken.
Police have a handprint and other evidence they are investigating, according to the report.
Man stopped in warrant search is arrested
An Aragon man was arrested after county police officers stopped his vehicle looking for an acquaintance.
According to Polk County Police Department reports, officers initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford F-100 truck on Prospect Road at Long Station Road Tuesday afternoon.
The officer identified the driver as Jonathan Charles Aikens. Reports state the officer asked Aikens if he knew Clay Hulsey and Aikens said he did.
Police further questioned Aikens and he said he hadn’t seen Hulsey that day. Police asked Aikens to call Hulsey and find out his location and Aikens complied, reports state.
Reports said another officer arrived on site and that officer checked Aikens for outstanding warrants. He had one through Bartow County for theft by receiving, reports state.
Aikens was placed under arrest and is being held in the Polk County Jail on hold for Bartow County.
His truck, and the pitbull dog in the truck bed, was released to Aikens’ girlfriend.
