Parents at Rockmart Middle School can relax because their children are safe, according to Polk County School District Superintendent Marvin Williams.

Parents began commenting with growing concern on Facebook after a local page said Rockmart police were dispatched to the school at 9:20 a.m.

Williams said one officer, the school resource officer, was sent to the school to handle a disgruntled parent. There was never any danger to students, he said.

“Sometimes we’re forced to have a S.R.O. intervene,” he said. “Everything is fine.”

Students are actually in a very quiet environment today because it is Criterion- Referenced Competence Test (CRCT) day for middle school students, he said.

My kids said that the sro wasn't even there today. I believe the Superintendent is misinformed as usual.
