With one regular season middle school tennis match left before the postseason tournament begins, Rockmart Middle School head coach Michelle Thaxton is proud of her team and the dedication they have shown this spring.

“I have been very fortunate this tennis season to coach a group of kids that are not only hard workers, but overall good team players,” Thaxton stated. “Our season got off to a slow start, but we have gained momentum and have been able to collect some wins as the season has progressed.”

Thaxton noted that the team has benefited from the help of Joel Hudson.

“The team has been fortunate to have (his) assistance,” Thaxton said. “He has volunteered his time to help with team drills during practice.”

Thaxton was also quick to recognize the parents of the players.

“The middle school tennis season is very short,” Thaxton said. “And the team could not have done as well as they have without the supportive parents of these students.”

Members of the Lady Jackets middle school tennis squad this season are Alicia Clark, Anna Smith, Katelyn Evans, Abigail Moore, Raylee Atkins, Conner Tant, Taylor McVey, Kahayla Robinson, Belle Hudson, Savannah Hudson, Riha Momin, and Alexis Clanton.

Members of the Yellow Jackets this spring are Dustin Adams, Aubrey Clay, Koby Adams, Dawson Elrod, Evan Clay, Logan McNabb, Anthony Robinson, Jacob Summerville, Hunter Wade, and Zayne Waits.

The postseason tournament is slated to begin the week of April 16, according to Thaxton.
