The Rockmart High School boys basketball team brought home two wins on Dec. 5 against Haralson County and Dec. 8 against Adairsville.

The Haralson County game was a big win for Rockmart as they came out sluggish at the beginning of the game, but found their rhythm to start the second quarter right and out score Haralson 28-10.

The guys continue to play smart, head-up ball and they coasted in for a 76-44 win.

Leading scores came from Marqal Washington and Drew Patrick as they both brought in 12. Quitman Berry scored 11, followed by Damaris Wilson scoring 7 over-all points.

The team’s win against Adairsville was a well-earned one as they topped out over them 68-64 in overtime. Leading scores came from Washington with 31 points, followed by Patrick with 16 and Wilson with 6.

“This was a good win for us,” said coach Kyle Stephens. “We did not play well for most of the first Half, so we went in at halftime and made some adjustments.

“The boys responded and played with a lot of effort in the second half where Marqal Washington made some big plays for us along with hitting 3 big free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime period to help us come out with the win.”
