The City of Cedartown has scheduled a public hearing for Jan. 11 on a proposed Opportunity Zone.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room of Cedartown City Hall, 201 East Ave. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain citizen input and comments regarding the Opportunity Zone and to answer citizen questions.
Pursuant to its Urban Redevelopment Plan, the city is considering the approval of an Opportunity Zone within the plan area so to qualify the designated area for available economic incentives and to encourage industrial growth and increased employment opportunity.
According to the regulations of Opportunity Zones as set forth by Official Code of Georgia Annotated, (O.C.G.A.) 48-7-40, et seq. and subject to the rules of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and Georgia Department of Revenue the City must hold a public hearing to discuss the designation.
The proposed Wissahickon Ave Opportunity Zone is to include: An area of land within the Cedartown Urban Redevelopment plan area consisting of the following tax map and parcel numbers according to the Polk County Tax Assessors’ records: Map and Parcel C04-086, consisting of approximately 16 acres.
Printed materials including descriptions of the proposed Opportunity Zone as well as maps and additional information is available for public viewing daily at City Hall, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
