A Polk County child had to be air lifted to a hospital for burn injuries Sunday night, according to Polk County officials.

Randy Lacey, Polk County Safety director, said the incident happened at a Shiloh Road home.

Reports indicate the little boy’s sister was cooking macaroni and cheese when he pulled it off the stove and the hot mixture landed on him.

Parents took the boy in their own vehicle to get emergency care, where it was determined to ask for an airlift, according to Lacey.

Ms.Marks.I want to apologise to you......I was at fault for just reading one side to a story....I applaud you for raising independant kids,No man OR woman should depend on anyone, I was raised that way as well, but not on purpose, I had alchoholic parents who didn't give a rip, so I had to take care of myself, I could cook cornbread at 9 yrs old ,if I wanted to eat.......that is why it made me so sad to think that other little kids are having to fend for themselves because noone else cares ......The story that was reported made it seem as if two poor little kids were home alone, doing the best they could do to get by........please accept my apology, I commend your daughter for being independant, and I sincerely hope your little baby boy makes a full recovery

Thank you for the apology. I hate that you grew up under the circumstances you did, but, not all parents are like that. Both my husband and I are very much involved with them and would never leave them to "fend for themselves." Our son is doing much better than expected and will recover nicely, on the hand he doesn't want mac & cheese for a very long time he says.

My name is Ryan Marks, I am the mother of these 2 children. As for your question "where the hell were the parents?" I was standing 3 ft. from them in the kitchen, as to why was my daughter (who is almost11) cooking macaroni & cheese; I have and will always teach my children (all three of them ) to be self suffienct, not to depend on a man nor woman when they grow up, to not be too lazy as to get up and cook for their families, I cook every night and my mother and dad, they both were full time parents, had both my sister and I to raise, well she did the same with us, I was making cornbread when I was her age. So, first of all, no one was baby sitiing my children I was there, like I said previously. Freak accidents happen, and this was one of them, secondly he didn't pull anything off of the stove, she was draining the pasta when he ran into her, it spilt.

At which point my medical trainging kicked in and I called 911 to have them have EMS in route to meet us at a location, in which they did, he was life flighted to Grady burn Unit, due to there is no burn units in the surrounding areas. You being a parent are not going to tell me freak accidents don't happen, they do, plain and simple. If they haven't happened to you or anyone in your family, CONGRADULATIONS, you must be 'Super Mom.'

As far as the reporter Ms. Melody Dareing, you need to make sure you have a complete story to the 'T' before reporting on it, bad job. I'd also like to ask Ms.Super Mom, is your stove right beside your sink, if so please contact me, I'd love to meet the man that put electricity directly beside running water! Also to mS. Dareing in the police report it plainly states everything I just put in here including my address, which is not 'somewhere on Shiloh Road.' If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me, 678-832-9358, and as to 'Super Mom' please do give me some pointers on how to raise my children, I'm sure they would love to have

'Super Mom for a day!' My daughter also read this and tried to comment, but she was actually a little haughtier than I have been. I have raised them well.
