Police are looking for a man after a Rockmart homeowner scuffled with the suspect during a burglary in his home.

Polk County Police Department reports state a lookout was put out Tuesday shortly after 3 p.m. on a young male, approximately 16 to 18-years-old wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. He is approximately 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs around 155 pounds, reports said.

Police and Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the area around Barber Road for the suspect Tuesday afternoon, but ended the search without success.

Reports state a male victim told police was home only a few minutes from running errands when he went to the bathroom. As he entered, the suspect came out and the two started wrestling.

The young man had a knife, the victim said.

The victim told police he got the suspect calmed down and called 911. That’s when the suspect ran outside, going north on Barber Road.

Police found an open window in the bathroom where the suspected entered, reports said.

The victim had small cuts from the fight, but didn’t need medical attention, according to reports.
