Cedartown’s Carson Ledford left his home recently with the goal of winning a national championship. When Ledford returned, he had accomplished that goal.

Competing in the Fourth Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross, sanctioned by AMA, Ledford won the 250 C (17-and-older) national championship.

On March 10-11, Ledford participated in an event that featured nearly 1,000 entries at the Daytona International Speedway. The event featured amateur classes ranging from 50cc all the way to vet and pro classes. The event brought some of the sports biggest industry names and sponsors to scout the amateur circuit.

Ledford was one of the riders to catch their eye.

The Cedartown native recorded the fastest lap time in practice, and then won his heat.

In the main event, Ledford continued his momentum and won the national championship. After his victory, Ledford was able to stand on the podium with the host of the tournament, Ricky Carmichael.

Sponsoring Ledford are Kawasaki Team Green Rider Support, Spider Energy Drink, Privateer Racing League, Kawasaki of Rome, Jett Boots, 100% googles, Kendra Tires, Roost MX, Moto Moose Photos, and Matt Walker’s Moto X Compound.

Ledford is the son of Leland and Kim Ledford of Cedartown. Carson also has two brothers, Taylor and Daniel Ledford.
