MACON, GA. — The merger of some Georgia colleges won't be final until Tuesday, but work is already being done to promote the new names.

The University of Georgia System Board of Regents voted last year to consolidate eight schools, and it is expected to give final approval Tuesday.

Macon State College and Middle Georgia College in Cochran will become Middle Georgia State College. WMAZ-TV reports that the bookstore at Macon State already has apparel with the new name, and the old Macon State merchandise has been marked down.

At Georgia Health Sciences University, officials tell the Augusta Chronicle that the first sign of their merger with Augusta State University will be a website promoting the new Georgia Regents University.
