Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Macon State College have entered into a partnership to promote academic opportunity for students through an articulation of transfer agreement.

The joint program allows transfer admissions opportunities for academically qualified graduates of GNTC’s Computer Information Systems program, who are interested in completing their Bachelor of Science degree as an Information Technology major at Macon State College.

The two colleges have identified the programs most suitable for articulation with Macon State as Computer Support Specialist, Internet Specialist-Web Site Design, and Networking Specialist. Other CIST degrees, diplomas, or certificates may be approved with written agreement by the deans at each college.

“Whenever we do something successful at GNTC, it’s because we focused on the students,” stated GNTC President Craig McDaniel. “This agreement puts the focus on the needs of our students and will provide them with a great opportunity to continue their education.”

Under the articulation agreement, students at GNTC who earn a grade of C or higher and meet specific admission and enrollment requirement standards will be accepted for admission into Macon State’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree program.

“These are historic agreements that we are signing today between the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia,” stated Macon State President Jeff S. Allbritten. “These are the kinds of things we need to do to build pathways for students.”

Georgia Northwestern Technical College serves Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties in Georgia with campuses located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties. Approximately 26,000 people benefit from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs, making it the largest college in Northwest Georgia and the fourth largest technical college in Georgia.
