Cedartown and Aragon residents will decide contested races Tuesday during only two municipal elections scheduled for Polk County.

Rockmart's scheduled municipal election will not be held, since only the incumbents qualified for the three seats. Steve Miller, representing Ward 1, Lucille Harris, Ward 3 and Bruce Bell, Ward 4, will continue to hold their seats.

The Cedartown City Commission does not have precincts, so the three open seats will be filled by the three individuals who receive the most votes.

The following five individuals qualified in Cedartown's municipal election: John N. Barrett (incumbent), Larry Wayne Odom (incumbent), Scott Tillery (incumbent), Jimmy Holland and Forrest E. McCombs Sr.

Aragon also has open seats. There are two seats open as part of the regular municipal election. There is also a third seat open in a special election.

The following three people qualified for Aragon's regular municipal election: Curtis Burrus (incumbent), Beverly Clinton (incumbent) and Patricia Jackson.

In Aragon's special election, Cynthia Smith and Eugene Smith are seeking the position formerly held by Sadie Pittman, who resigned.
