An 11-year-old boy was caught with a B.B. gun at a Cedartown school Thursday, according a to Polk County School District official.

According to Buddy Harrison, director of student services, the fifth grader’s unloaded pistol was discovered Thursday afternoon at Cherokee Elementary School on Evergreen Lane in Cedartown.

The boy’s name will not be released because he is a juvenile.

Harrison said he didn’t know what led to the discovery, but usually teachers hear about such things from students’ conversations.

No one was injured in the incident.

Harrison said the school filed criminal juvenile charges through their resource officer and the boy is facing a tribunal hearing, which will be set before the Christmas break.

ok I understand there is a policy against any kind of weapon in the school and the child should be punished, but criminal charges, were are the supposed adults in this situation? I know a bb gun can maim and all that but good grief, an 11 year old, can't we find a better way than filing criminal charges to take care of this matter. Maybe, I am wrong, but something seems wrong with society when we deal with problems like this by (IMO) over reacting.

He will be charged with Crimes Against Hummanity

The problem is the dorks and nerds of the 1970's and 1980's are running the schools and their policies. They weren't invited to the High School parties so now they don't want anyone elese having fun. Problem is they are still trying to get the wedgies out of their cracks

Will that tribunal be held in Nuremberg?
