Salierno is the CEO of Celebrate Life International, a nonprofit funded in 1996 dedicated to helping at-risk children become responsible adults.
She began her trip On June 10 in Vancouver, Wash. with no previous cycling experience to raise money and awareness for at-risk children.
According to her website www.challengethecycle.org, the trip has taken her through 13 states on her journey back to Georgia.
"My highest climb was about 10,200 feet," Salierno said. "I think the steepest incline I faced was about 12 percent."
She is expected to arrive at the finish of her journey in Acworth tomorrow.
Salireno said she has raised $151,000 for the program so far with a goal of $300,000.
"What I've really enjoyed is the beauty of our country and the people have been really hospitable," Salireno said.
She stated that she made almost the entire journey on a Trek carbon fiber road bike only switching to a mountain bike during one section of her trip in Wyoming.
"This trip has been about challenging the downward cycle of kids in our community," Salireno said. "I want them to maybe think about if someone like me can put some skin into a goal like this, maybe they can to."
