Cedartown man killed in wreck identified

The Cedartown man killed in a fatal car crash last Saturday night has been identified, according to officials.

Brian R. Mathis, 37, of Antioch Road, Cedartown, was killed in a one-vehicle wreck, according to Polk County Coroner Trey Litesey and Georgia State Patrol (GSP) officials.

GSP reports state the crash happened around 9:40 p.m. Saturday on Antioch Road.

Mathis was driving his 1998 Toyota Tacoma when he ran off the road and struck a tree, reports state.

He died from injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene, according officials.

Mathis was the only one in the vehicle, reports said.

He was not wearing his seat belt, reports said.

RIP Mr. Mathis. Always hate to hear when a young Life is cut short, especially a fellow Cedartonian!
