Cedartown High School graduate Katie Stanton has won a national championship.

As a member of the University of West Georgia’s all girl cheerleading squad, Stanton and her teammates won the UCA National Cheerleading Championship trophy in Orlando, Fla. last weekend.

According to Cedartown High School principal Hal David, Stanton earned a spot on the squad as an incoming freshman and has had an incredible and surreal experience this season.

The West Georgia all girl squad has won seven national championships in the past 10 years, including three in a row.

Stanton is a 2012 graduate of Cedartown High School.
