The ribbon cutting ceremony signified the opening of their new office in the Northside Building at 522 Main Street. The building also contains the offices of four other businesses.
Many CAP workers, volunteers and members of the community were in attendance at the ribbon cutting. Afterwards, guests enjoyed refreshments in the waiting area of the new office.
According to Tara Payne, service coordinator for Polk County CAP, the building that held their previous office had gone up for sale and they were unsure if they would be able to stay. She said that she feels much safer in her new office because there are other people working there. Payne also mentioned two break-ins that had happened at the previous office, and that she thinks that the new building is more secure.
Payne gave a short but emotional speech before the ribbon cutting where she thanked members of the community for their support and the volunteers at the organization.
According to Payne, the CAP organization’s goal is to help struggling families be more self-sufficient.
