The Cedartown Powerbombs, a nine-and-10-year-old recreation softball team, decided to do something different at practice on Thursday night.

Instead of the usual batting practice and fundamental drills, the Powerbombs were able to play their mother's in a special game for an early Mother's Day present.

"Heather Thomas (a team mom) came up with the idea, and we thought it was a good idea," head coach Alfred Potts said. "It's a way for the girls and their moms to celebrate Mother's Day."

The game was played on the softball field behind the Polar Cub No. 2 restaurant.

"It's a mommy/daughter type game," assistant coach Breault Thomas said. "We thought it would be fun."
