Quitting is hard, but you can increase your chances of success with a little help and support. Average smokers make 5 to 7 quit attempts before quitting successfully. To have the best chance of quitting and staying quit, you need to know what you're up against, what your options are, and where to go for help. You will find this information now in your community.
The American Cancer Society is marking the 17th "Great American Smokeout" on November 15th by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life - one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.
The Polk County Relay For Life is proud to announce that during the month of November, it will host "Refresh" classes. These classes are for the person who WANTS to quit, and are designed to help that person decide to quit, to plan to quit, to set a quit date, and to stay quit, in 4 weekly classes. The classes are part of a group support program and furnish support and tips on coping with triggers. The goal is to help participants make a successful quit attempt.
Classes will be held in both Cedartown and in Rockmart as follows:
